Gendai – Weathering Stain Silver

DESCRIPTION

Our Gendai® yakisugi “shou sugi ban” products receive a single brushing to remove some of the delicate soot layer–leaving a smooth, consistent, and dark surface. We apply our silver weathering stain prefinish prior to shipment. This unique product is designed to mimic the look of aged, silver wood, with coloring that will continue to change and patina over time. This combination is only suitable for exterior installations. Available burned on both faces (S4S) for fencing or louver applications.

Weathering Stain Silver

Our silver weathering stain is based on the Cape Cod gray aesthetic. It is designed to be maintenance-free as it develops a bleached coastal patina over time. This coating has two components. The first is a binder-free silver pigment that will wash off within the first year. The second is a mineral that reacts with tannic acid in the wood to develop a natural silver color. Delivered ready to install.

The Patina Scale has been developed by Nakamoto Forestry to approximate how its products will weather over time—from 0 (“less patina/more color longevity”) to 10 (“less color longevity/more patina”). However, every product weathers at a different rate due to local conditions, and the Patina Scale is intended as general guidance only, and is solely for informational purposes. Nakamoto Forestry makes no guarantees, representations, or warranties, express or implied, regarding the appearance or color longevity of its products after installation.

CONSIDERATIONS

• This siding product has a unique living finish (AKA “patina”).
• Designed to weather from pigmented silver to faded silver over time.
• Due to its composition, the factory silver stain may appear uneven in color and tone.
• Soot residue, caking, and blemishing (especially along board edges) are all common with this product.

MAINTENANCE

Get ready for long-lasting beauty with no hassle; this exterior finish requires no maintenance. Weathering results will start to show within six months of installation. We include touchup stain to match face color on end cuts, notches, and rips. This siding product should never be scraped, sanded or pressure washed.

SHIPPING DETAILS

Minimum order volume is 400 square feet for the order’s first line item. Standard lead time is 2-3 weeks PO to ship-ready, then add 1-2 weeks for shipping. Please order at least 5 weeks before needed at site, and note that lead time can go up if we are oversold on specific items.
