Get up to 15% off select Shou Sugi Ban profiles — premium charred wood siding

Sugi cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) is indigenous to Japan. It is used primarily for construction lumber due to its high rigidity and quick drying nature. We specialize in the Hachiro variety, used specifically for siding in western Japan.

Our Sugi products are milled and graded for maximum durability in exterior applications as well as to showcase the inherent beauty of the natural wood grain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Toggle icon Your uncharred “Sugi” kind of looks like Western Red Cedar. Why do you offer these products when we have several local cedar and cypress species here in North America?
Toggle icon We want to use your Sugi product and maintain a natural appearance on both the exterior and interior of our project. Which Nakamoto Forestry finish coating should we use for this? Or do we need separate products for the two scopes?
Toggle icon Can we use your products specified for exterior applications indoors, or your products specified for interior applications outdoors? What about on an interior ceiling that will never get touched, or on a soffit or loggia that will never be rained on directly?
