East Hampton Modern
Pika-Pika® Alkyd Black: 1×6 select grade shiplap, 1×8 select grade S3S
East Hampton, NY
Project Overview:
Nakamoto Forestry provided the black Pika-Pika® yakisugi siding used on the entire exterior of the structure, which earned special shoutouts from the architect as well as architectural awards judges:
From Workshop/APD: “On a bucolic East Hampton property abutting a multi-acre horse farm, Workshop/APD devised a dramatically different weekend getaway for NYC-based clients and their guests. The home, a composition of crisp gabled forms rendered in rich black shou sugi ban wood, houses a primary suite, open plan living room, dining room, and kitchen on one side of a covered exterior corridor, and two private guests suites on the other, all facing an extraordinary pool surrounded on three sides by a lush meadow.
This home earned Best Weekend Home in the 2024 Interior Design NYCxDESIGN Awards as well as the award for Exterior Architecture in the 2024 Luxe RED Awards.”
From the 2024 Luxe RED Awards judges: “Nestled in East Hampton’s tranquil setting, this modern getaway boasts shou sugi ban gabled forms. Soaring ceilings and expansive glass highlight lush meadows and a stunning pool while establishing a stylish, inviting retreat.”
