DESCRIPTION
Our Pika-Pika® yakisugi “shou sugi ban” products receive a double brushing to remove all loose soot. This reveals a textured wood surface with striped grain patterns. Our polyurethane finish ensures a high-traffic, non-toxic, washable surface; only suitable for interior applications.
FINISH DETAILS
Polyurethane Clear
Our non-toxic polyurethane is a clean and hard coating that protects the wood from dirt and abrasion. It can be quickly wiped down with a moist cloth, or easily touched up. This coating is not suitable for exterior applications or in any installation where the product will be consistently exposed to moisture (e.g., shower walls/ceilings). Delivered ready to install.
CONSIDERATIONS
- This interior polyurethane coating offers a satin sheen.
- Dramatically showcases the wood’s opulent, natural grain.
- Sort this product by tone on each wall section when installing for a more uniform appearance.
- Soot residue, caking, and blemishing (especially along board edges) are all common with this product.
- Keep siding slip-sheeted until installation to prevent blocking between boards as well as abrasion blemishes.

MAINTENANCE
This product can be enjoyed for a lifetime with little-to-no additional maintenance. Yakisugi should never be scraped, sanded, or pressure washed. A very weak TSP or soap solution, neutral pH cleaner, or simply clean water can be applied with a cloth or soft brush to wash off pollen, dirt, and dust. Exterior siding should be hosed down regularly to keep the appearance fresh and clean.

SHIPPING DETAILS
Minimum order volume is 400 square feet for the order’s first line item. Standard lead time is 2-3 weeks PO to ship-ready, then add 1-2 weeks for shipping. Please order at least 5 weeks before needed at site, and note that lead time can go up if we are oversold on specific items.
