Dutchmoor Valley Guesthouse

La Porte, IN

From Seek Design + Architecture:

“On a 5-acre farmstead in rural northwestern Indiana, a new 2,700 sq ft, three-gable shed structure complements the main compound, which includes a main house, pool house, barn, and garden. This guest house provides a private and serene retreat for friends and family; and doubles as a wellness and entertainment haven when unoccupied. The guest house features two guest bedrooms with a shared bath and soaking tub, a fitness room, a living room with a wood-burning stove, a coffee bar, an entertainment room with a pool table, and a multipurpose garage that serves as parking and a workshop.

The structure is composed of three elemental shed volumes: the bedroom wing, the wellness wing, and the multipurpose wing, all connected by a glass volume that serves as a transitional indoor-outdoor space and entry foyer. The design maintains a clear separation between the spaces while maximizing natural light and views of the outdoors.

The interior combines solid white volumes and warm wood-clad linings, offering a natural palette that enhances the framed views of nature. The outdoor area includes a two-tier rectangular wood deck oriented true north, a smokeless fire pit, a ground trampoline, and a pickleball court, set within a carefully curated landscape.”
