Suyaki® is the most traditional and dramatic of our yakisugi “shou sugi ban” products. Its thick, hydrophobic, UV-inhibiting soot layer ensures fantastic color and wood longevity for exterior installations. Unoiled Suyaki has an E84 class A fire resistance. Our finish-coated Suyaki products for interior applications look similar to our exterior-installed Suyaki products, but with unique tactile characteristics.

Suyaki yakisugi naturally features an extremely delicate soot surface that easily blemishes. Bundles and planks must be handled and installed with care. Please make sure that the installers have reviewed samples and are aware of the need for special handling before the lumber arrives at site.
