Fichtel Mountains House

Bad Berneck, Fichtel Mountains, Germany

Via Nakamoto Forestry Europe:

In the state of Bavaria, which is located in the very south of Germany, is the town of Bad Berneck. There lies the Fichtel Mountains House, nestled in the valley of the river “Weißer Main” and surrounded by seven forested mountains that protect it from harsh north and east winds.

This project is a sustainable construction in the form of a bungalow with a pointed roof. The entire house consists of one floor. In combination with large window fronts that allow a view of the surrounding valley, a clear, minimalist design is created.
Our Suyaki shou sugi ban siding, which was sought and found in the search for a completely natural as well as striking cladding material, gives the house a special expression.

With its charred soot layer reminiscent of alligator skin, Suyaki makes a statement and stands out from the crowd, but always pays tribute to the surrounding nature thanks to its naturalness.
